Commodus as Hercules

A 19th century unsigned black marble bust of the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius. The bust takes its insopiration from the famous marble sculpture created in 192AD depicting Emperor Coomodus as Hercules. Seen here triumphantly wearing over his head and shoulders the skin of the Nemean lion as he completes the first of his 7 labors.
